The Artemis Guitar Duo unites classical guitarists Isabella Abbonizio (Italy-USA) and Katty Mayorga (USA-Nicaragua). Together, they create a harmonious blend of Latin American rhythmic vibrancy and Italian lyrical finesse. Established in 2019, this dynamic ensemble takes audiences on a captivating musical journey with a particular emphasis on show- casing new compositions from emerging and female composers. Inspired by the duo’s artistry, up-and-coming composers like Moira Lo Bianco (1984) and Jean Lopes Baiano (1994) have dedicated original works, including Il Borgo and Pequeña Suite Brazuca, in their honor. These compositions reflect the unique and enthralling fusion of cultures that the Artemis Guitar Duo brings to life through their music. The Artemis Guitar Duo is a cultural celebration and an exploration of diverse traditions. They have performed in the USA and Italy and remain dedicated to advocating for emerging voices in classical music while actively contributing to the vibrant landscape of contemporary music.
