Full program notes
Please join us for an evening of music for violin and piano by Mozart, Messiaen and Brahms.
We will begin with one of Mozart's most sophisticated sonatas, the B-flat Major, K 454 which was composed in 1784 in Vienna. Then we will jump to France in 1932 with Olivier Messiaen's Theme and Variations, a wedding gift to his first wife (a violinist!). We will conclude our program, jumping back in time to Germany, 1879 with the Violin Sonata in G, op. 78, a tender, romantic, hearbreakingly beautiful work!
