Sandra hasn't set up their next groupmuse, yet.
Dr. Sandra Biedron is a physicist with a passion for architecture, art, cooking for friends and family, landscape architecture, music, and world cultures. Since 2014 she has owned the Ingersoll-Blackwelder House in the Beverly/Morgan Park area of Chicago which is nearly 150 years old and has many architectural features. She is slowly restoring the property. The home was once owned by Mrs. Gertrude Blackwelder, a community activist who was the first woman to vote in Cook County. Sandra bought the home to open its architecture for family events and public events for the community. She therefore connected immediately with the concept of Groupmuse to share music and culture as well as build and maintain human connections. In her career, she designs and builds particle accelerator systems as well as is involved with other engineering activities such as artificial intelligence based controls of systems, aviation, and environmental protection systems. She is well-recognized internationally in her field – being a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Fellow of the SPIE (the International Society for Optics and Photonics), and a Senior Member of both the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and the OSA (Optical Society of America). Throughout her career she has lived in Chicago, Fort Collins (CO), Italy, Santa Fe (NM) and Sweden, where she obtained her doctoral degree in accelerator physics. She is a research Professor at the University of New Mexico and is a consultant. She claims that her main hobby/obsession with restoring homes to their grandeur and adding to newer ones (i.e. wine cellars) is because the arrival of funding for science is slow to build hardware, so she needs to do something with results on shorter time scales.
