About

Soprano Lora Libby is a 2013 graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she received an M.M. in Vocal Performance, in addition to holding a B.M. degree from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music (IL). Her recent opera roles include Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) with Waffle Opera, Zerlina at BASOTI, the title role in Cavalli’s La Calisto, and covering Despina in the Conservatory Opera Theatre production of Mozart's Così fan tutte. Other favorite opera roles include Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), Amy (Little Women), and Eva in Passage to Paradise (OperaWorks Advanced Artist Program). Lora is also an avid musical theater performer, and her roles include Hodel in Fiddler, Olive Ostrovsky (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and Clara (Light in the Piazza). As a avid member of the local contemporary classical music community, Lora has performed new works with ensembles such as the John Adams Young Composer's program and Ensemble Mik Nawooj. She has also opened for The Pizza Underground, an antifolk Velvet Underground cover band featuring Macaulay Culkin, with her group Mirror Cult. In late August, she will appear as Sophie in Massenet's opera Werther, in a special concert version to be performed in Berkeley, CA.
