About

Daniel Stein completed his doctoral coursework at Indiana University, where he was Associate Instructor of Flute. In 2009, Mr. Stein was co-principal flutist of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. He has been a finalist at auditions for the Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Minnesota Orchestra, and appeared as a solo recitalist at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. An avid performer of contemporary music, Mr. Stein was a member of the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble and the IU New Music Ensemble. Mr. Stein graduate from MIT in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Music. As a 2005-06 Fulbright Scholar, he studied with Jacques Zoon in Geneva, Switzerland. He has been a flute fellow at the summer festivals of Tanglewood, Aspen, Sarasota, and Santa Barbara. His teachers include Thomas Robertello, Mark Sparks, Marianne Gedigian, and Linda Toote. Mr. Stein lives outside of Seattle, WA, where he works as a Product Manager for Smartsheet.

Anything from the standard flute repertoire, including many 20th century works.
Many string sonatas (transcribed), including Franck, Faure, Strauss violin sonatas. Chopin cello sonata.
Always open to learning something new.
