Cathedral of Trees performs original arrangements of progressive music for solo guitar, often combining classical, popular, and world music influences. Finding inspiration from the Amazon rainforest, composer and muse Egberto Gismonti fused elements of rock with jazz and Brazilian folk music to reflect on the beauty and complexity of the natural world. Not afraid to keep things simple in order to be deeply felt, here the jungle can be a metaphor for divergent sources entwining to create a beautiful whole. Featuring programs that juxtapose Gismonti with the Beatles and other popular composers who blur the boundaries between musical styles, Cathedral of Trees explores the natural rhythms and mystical sounds of Brazil and beyond through the voices of the nylon strings.
