About

Hailed by the Seattle Times as “Incandescent”, Kim Zabelle has dazzled Seattle audiences with her performances since age 4. Juggling a multifaceted musical career she thrives as performer, master teacher, and studio recording artist.

For 25 seasons, Kim has been a member of the acclaimed Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and is looking forward to its upcoming tour to New York City’s City Center in February 2016. Other recent, she was guest artist with the Bellingham Chamber Music Society and Bellingham House Concerts and soloist in Seattle with the Rain City Symphony. This February and March, Kim will present a demanding recital for audiences in Roslyn, Washington, New York City, New Jersey, and Seattle. The program encompasses virtuoso repertoire featuring four composers’ masterworks for unaccompanied violin.

A prominent teacher in the Seattle area, she has conducted and taught at Marrowstone-in-the-City, Vivace Chamber Players, and Puget Sound Chamber Music Workshop and coached for more than 20 years with the Seattle Youth Symphony. In February, she will be guest performer and coach for the New Jersey Youth Symphony. She has held faculty posts at Seattle Pacific University, Rutgers University (Chamber Music Institute), and was artist-in-residence at Bowling Green University in Ohio.

Having pursued doctoral studies in Historical Performance at Indiana University’s Early Music Institute, she was a founding member of Seattle Baroque Orchestra and has a solid background in medieval and Renaissance improvisation.

Stepping into the ground level of Seattle’s recording scene in the early 90’s, The Revenant and World of Warcraft soundtracks are amongst recent recording projects. She has recorded for Centaur, CBC Radio, Geffen, Focus & Wildboar records and has been featured on NPR broadcasts, Performance Today, and CBC Radio.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening with her cat, Claude Depussy, and her 10 chickens. In the early morning hours you can usually find her rowing out of Seattle’s George Pocock Center near Lake Union (she hopes she will be asked to play for soundtrack of the upcoming movie based on the book, Boys in the Boat). She also holds the coveted Culinary Trophy in two categories of the Pocock competitive sculling team’s Pie & Whiskey competition.
