Jonas began his music studies on classical guitar at the age of 11 and first picked up a renaissance lute in Salzburg at age 19. He says "It was the magic of plucking and strumming that got me hooked!"
Guitarist and lutenist Jonas Kublickas recent performances include recitals of solo and chamber music repertoire at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA, the Boston University and all throughout the Massachusetts area. He is especially interested in reaching out to new audiences and plays regularly with several early music and contemporary groups that perform in alternative spaces. Jonas has recently performed at Gwangju World Universiade closing ceremony in South Korea, Isabella Stewart Gardner museum and Seoul National University.
His repertoire includes both early music on the renaissance lute and contemporary works on classical guitar, from John Dowland (Elizabethan era), Antonio Vivaldi and Niccolo Paganini to 20th century masterpieces for solo guitar by Benjamin Britten. He collaborates with African-American Roots Ensemble playing electric guitar, which includes pieces by James Brown, Bob Marley and Bessie Jones. In 2014 Kublickas performed in an Oratorio by Georg Friedrich Händel "La Resurrezione"; playing Theorbo and Baroque guitar in a Basso Continuo section.
In 2013, Jonas started a project called ‘Confero de Música‘ which connects the charm and charisma of Spanish melodies and gracefulness of Baroque music. He‘s been performing on flamenco, classical guitar and lute with ‘Occo Duo’ while touring in Spain in the summer of 2014.
