About

A native of Costa Rica, violinist Eva Liebhaber has been a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008. She holds degrees from Rice University and Arizona State University, her primary teachers including Jonathan Swartz and Kathleen Winkler.
During the summer of 2016 Eva was principal second violin of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City, also having previously been invited to perform in 2012. She has frequently appeared as a guest artist with the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio in Texas, and has performed with the Malaysian Philharmonic in Kuala Lumpur and New World Symphony in Miami.
In New Orleans, she is a strong advocate of sharing music with diverse audiences of the city. She participates in LPO's outreach and educational programs like Music for Life, which teaches music to children in the historic Treme neighborhood, and Soul Strings, which brings interactive music therapy programs to special needs children and retirement homes. Eva has participated in summer festivals such as Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, Orchesterakademie aus Schloss Esterhazy, Grand Teton Music Festival, and Castleton Music Festival and has performed in the concert halls of Germany, Austria, France, Mexico, Costa Rica, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
In orchestral settings, Eva has performed with internationally acclaimed soloists like Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Gil Shaham, Midori, Vadim Gluzman, Randy Newman, and Allen Toussaint and has performed under the batons of Yakov Kreisberg, Günther Schuller, Donald Runnicles and Lorin Maazel.
