About

DC-based cellist Pecos Singer is the winner of the 2016 Baroque Concerto Competition at the San Francisco Conservatory, and has performed on baroque and modern instruments across the US, the Czech Republic, Italy and Austria. Pecos is a founding member of the Anacostia String Quartet, the 2018 Ensemble-In-Residence with the District New Music Coalition (DNMC), an innovative organization of emerging composers dedicated to the performance of new music in DC. Pecos has recorded for the Naxos label as a Fellow at the National Orchestral Institute and collaborated on a recording project with composer Mason Bates for the world premier of "Auditorium" with the San Francisco Symphony. A finalist in the Coeur d'Alene National Young Artists Competition, Pecos plays on a 1921 cello made by Giovanni Cutugno, generously on loan from the Carlsen Cello Foundation. Pecos holds degrees from the University of Oregon and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and currently studies with Dr. Eric Kutz at the University of Maryland in pursuit of a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Pecos has performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, Sixth and I Historic Synagogue, and the Clarice.
