About

Daniel Swayze is a pianist, teacher, and Director of the Beerthoven Concert Series at the Austin Saengerrunde. He is an avid supporter of intimate venues and has been praised by the Jacksonville Review for a house concert described as "Enchanting....crisp and impressive.”

After an unusually late start on piano studies at the age of 14, Daniel began his studies with pianist Barbara Parker in Portland, OR. He went on to graduate summa cum laude from Southern Oregon University in 2011 with a BA in Piano Performance, having received all of the department's highest honors and awards. Daniel has studied extensively with Dr. Alexander Tutunov and Van Cliburn Winner Mark Westcott and has performed in master classes with such artists as Jon Nakamatsu, John Perry and Nelita True. Noteworthy performances include appearances as soloist for Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band, and the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Southern Oregon University Symphonic Band, as well as an appearance in Carnegie Hall with the award-winning ensemble Siskiyou Violins. He has also been featured in the Austin Chronicle and performed on KMFA Radio.

Daniel completed his Master of Music degree at the University of Texas in Austin in 2014 and will continue on to his Doctorate in Musical Arts at the Butler School of Music Fall 2015. He regularly provides music for Memorial United Methodist Church, Riverbend Church, and the Austin Saengerrunde. In his spare time he enjoys reading, cooking, and swing dancing.
