Davis Butner is an aspiring architect and practicing musician with an interest in the intersection of architecture and the performing arts. With experience in a range of fields from symphony administration to architectural design, acoustical consulting, and theater planning, he is passionate about the civic role of the performing arts and of architecture that promotes public gathering and inspiration.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Music and Architectural Design, he likewise completed a certificate of design at the Architectural Association in London, and his masters in architecture at Yale University.

While performing extensively as a freelance violinist and violist, he has worked for a variety of firms and organizations including the Atlanta Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestras, Threshold Acoustics in Chicago, and Theatre Projects Consultants in Norwalk, CT. He was most recently based in Shanghai, China as a 2019-2020 Henry Luce Scholar.
