Patchy Sanders
6 Piece Contemporary Folk Orchestra
About
We play 100% original orchestral folk music!
The instruments that make up the ensemble are:
4 part vocal harmonies, Viola, violin, mandolin, guitar, upright bass, lever harp, banjo, Irish bouzouki.
Here is one of the band's latest reviews from the renowned "Wintergrass Music Festival:"
Patchy Sanders is as much a family as it is a band. In fact, if we didn’t know better, I’d say these are six of Jerry Garcia’s love children that were given bluegrass instruments and told to sing their dreams through the strings. This group of gypsy folk hippies play music that is nearly impossible to categorize; they’re like the Portland, hipster version of down South bluegrass, they’re like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros gone Appalachia; they’re the modern musicians, poets, and dreamers that could play an entire soundtrack to a Wes Anderson film. They’ve got this amazing ability to make a banjo sound like raindrops, and a voice sound like falling leaves, so when we say Patchy Sanders plays like Earth, Wind, and Fire, we don’t mean the band! Pulling inspiration from nature, fairy tales, and pure emotion, the Patchy family crafts everything from ballads to lullabies that capture you with rolling harmonies, syncopated rhythms, and flawlessly integrated time signatures.
