About

The New Orleans-based Lafitte Quartet is a young ensemble committed to sharing their passion and love for chamber music with their community through a wide range of performance and presentation styles.
The Lafitte are equally at home with Joseph Haydn and Steve Reich, exploring the wealth of string quartet writing from the eighteenth to the twenty-first centuries.

Violinist Benjamin Thacher studied at the New England Conservatory of Music and the San Fransisco Conservatory of Music. He has served as the concertmaster of the Boise Philharmonic, appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras and presently serves as a violinist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gabriel Platica began violin studies in his native Romania before studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. He further studied at Southeastern Louisiana University and pursued doctoral work at the University of Minnesota where he performed with the Minnesota Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Gabriel presently plays violin with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Violist Tyler Sieh studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music before serving with the United States Air Force Strings in Washington DC. Upon his discharge, Tyler taught violin and viola at multiple universities as violist of the Augustana String Quartet. He has been a member of the Omaha Symphony, the Missouri Symphony Orchestra and presently is a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra viola section.

Rachel Hsieh studied cello at the University of Michigan and the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Rachel has been a member of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra, the Castleton Festival Orchestra, the Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She presently plays cello as a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
