About
Vicky Hong started piano at 3 with her father, who is an amateur singer that discovered her perfect pitch, also her remarkable music aural and memory skills.
She attended music junior school in Shanghai, a specially designed music school that only enroll very limited amount of musically talented students from all over the country each year.
She came to Australia when she was in grade 11, soon after arrival she auditioned for the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She was granted a full scholarship to study a Bachelor of Music Performance degree under Stephen Savage without completing high school.
After graduating her Bachelor degree with First Class Honours, she was offered another scholarship to study Master of Music in piano performance with Professor Ronald Farren-Price at the University of Melbourne which she completed in 18 months.
Vicky has won numerous piano competition including Queensland Foundation Prize, Minnie May Bussey Prize, Yamaha Prize, Bach Prize, Beta Sigma Prize, Westpac Scholarship and Queensland Piano Competition. She was a national finalist in the ABC Young Performers' Award and the City of Sydney Piano Competition. From 2000-2004, she was chosen to work with the Australian National Academy of Music in promoting young musicians with performance opportunities as well as working with other international musicians, such as Piers Lane, Emanuel Ax...
Vicky is now based on Gold Coast, she enjoys preforming and teaching piano. As well as accompanying for the Australian Youth Choir.
