Abby Swidler is a performer and composer who has been praised for sensitive and expressive playing and thoughtful musicianship. Abby frequently performs with Shattered Glass, Manhattan-based chamber orchestra; Tredici Bacci, Brooklyn-based Italian film score band; among other collaborations across genre lines.
Abby has been concertmaster and principal of Phoenix Ensemble, Discovery Ensemble, Eastman School Symphony, and Colorado College Summer Festival Orchestra. She has been an artist in residence at Banff Center for Arts and The Panama Jazz Festival, and played on 30 albums ranging from contemporary classical to rock.
As a composer, Abby has collaborated with dance, film, theater, and performing ensembles; working with artists like Carla Kihlstedt, Mirah, Shizuka Viola Duo, Kishi Bashi, and Dance Visions INC.
She has degrees from The Eastman School of Music and The New England Conservatory. Originally from Missoula, MT, she currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
