About

The Southport Quartet formed for a project with Civic Orchestra of Chicago that involved performances and presentations in schools and community venues. We had so much fun playing together that we have decided to continue performing together. Southport is made up of four young professional classical musicians with a passion for pairing music of different compositional styles together and exploring underrepresented composers and works.

Music

We like to explore underrepresented classical works and composers, and pair them with fun, genre crossing pieces. Our first recital program included: Bedrich Smetana's String Quartet No. 2, Grazyna Bacewicz String Quartet No. 4, and folk tune arrangements by the Danish String Quartet.
