Tobias James
Guitar
About
Rising guitarist Tobias James “performs with great energy, musicality, technique and a genuine enthusiasm for the repertoire” (Jason Vieaux, Grammy-Award winning guitarist) and is bursting onto the musical scene with great passion. A native of the Chicago area, Tobias was born into a musical family where he started to play Suzuki classical guitar at age six.
In addition to classical guitar, Tobias is also an avid flamenco guitarist where he accompanies Peabody Preparatory’s flamenco dance class. He wishes to bring this tradition back into the classical realm by commissioning new pieces that incorporate elements of flamenco as well as performing solo works of flamenco guitarists.
Tobias is a faculty member at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He received his Masters at the Peabody Institute and his Bachelors at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
