A member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (WEDO) since 2016, Israeli violinist Maya Lorenzen has performed around the world as soloist and ensemble player. She is a prizewinner of the 2016 Karl-Adler Competition (Germany) and 2013 Mehta Chamber Music Competition (Israel), and since 2004 has received funding, special awards and scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. Maya is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in performance with Philip Setzer at Stony Brook University.
With WEDO, Maya has performed under the baton of Daniel Barenboim in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall during the BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival, Salzburg Festival, Philharmonie de Paris, Pierre Boulez hall, Waldbühne Berlin, Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, John F. Kennedy Center, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Maya has been an invited soloist with the Israeli Symphony orchestra, The NK chamber orchestra, Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra and with the Israeli Conservatory Orchestra.
As much as I enjoy all different genres of music, my focus as a performer is on classical music.
I play everything between Bach and Contemporary, highlighting works written in the 20th century (Debussy, Ravel, Prokofiev, Shostakovich etc.).
