About

Sierra Schmeltzer is currently a freelance flutist in the Los Angeles area specializing in chamber and orchestral music. Sierra began her solo career early at the age of 16, she placed first in the Oregon Symphony’s Wiscarson Concerto Competition. Currently, Sierra holds the piccolo/flute III position with the Boise Philharmonic. Additionally, she is the Flute II fellow in the American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles, CA.
Sierra completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School under the tutelage of New York City based flutist Janet Arms. Sierra is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the University of Southern California, where she is studying with Jim Walker, a previous principal of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
