About

I am a New York-based contemporary classical composer, mandolinist, and chamber musician. Collaboration with creative musical partners is an essential element of my approach. I am committed to sharing the sound of the classical mandolin and my compositions with chamber music audiences.

I was trained in classical and jazz methods on guitar as a child and later taught myself piano and mandolin. I have extensive composing, arranging, producing, conducting, and touring experience with pop/rock artists, singer/songwriters, classical ensembles, opera vocalists, and theater companies. As a touring musician and bassist, I have performed at notable New York area venues including: Radio City Music Hall, The Theater at MSG, and the Apollo. In recent years, I have focused more on composition and on my efforts to share the classical mandolin with the classical music community in New York. Music

My performance programs feature my compositions for solo mandolin, mandolin with piano/harp/or guitar, along with selections from other composers. My contemporary classical compositions are influenced by music from the baroque to the contemporary, including jazz, folk, film, and popular music. I play and can improvise music in all genres!

For each classical mandolin performance showcasing my compositions, I include stories that highlight a theme or connection to a location, season, time period, or literary concept that inspired the work. In this way, I can bring the audience along as participants in a unique concert experience. Alongside my compositions, I may include works from the baroque, classical, contemporary, folk, jazz, and popular genres to support the program.
