Classical Guitar

About

I am a classical guitarist with a passion for emotive performance and cross-cultural dialog within the music. I discovered classical guitar at the 2019 Denver International Guitar Festival, where I heard elements of jazz, flamenco, South American folk and tango all fuse beautifully with Western Art Music traditions to create a wondrous and inspiring sound.

I began studies immediately, mentored by Dr. Patrick Sutton and Roger Harmon. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I took the opportunity of extra time to complete a BFA in guitar performance and thereafter begin my graduate studies at Lamont School of Music. In June 2023 I was awarded a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance and have since been busy touring throughout the region as a soloist and in chamber groups.

Music

My primary musical inspiration of the moment is with 20th century composers, namely Antonio Lauro (Venezuela), E. Sainz de la Maza (Spain), Roland Dyens (Persia/France). I enjoy each of these composers for the unique ways that they blend folk and popular styles with classical aesthetics.

The program I am touring with this year includes Lauro's "Suite Venezolana," "Platero Y Yo" by Eduardo Sainz de la Maza, and "20 Lettres" by Dyens. It is a concert full of lively dance rhythms, pastoral imagery, and many an homage to composers throughout history.
