About

Daniel Anastasio is a soloist and chamber musician based in San Antonio, Texas who combines an intellectual curiosity with “technical prowess and emotional sensitivity” (San Antonio Report). As Artistic Director of several organizations, his innovative programs have included collaborations with dancers, writers, museums, photographers, glass-blowers, and more. As an educator, Anastasio gives interactive lectures on musical concepts to general audiences and emerging professionals alike, from music students at The Juilliard School and Bard College to medical students at the UT Health and Science Center in San Antonio. These talks cover aspects of harmony, structure, notational details, style, and performing in a way that deepens the listening experience for audiences and establishes new connections for the next generation of listeners. He holds degrees from Cornell University, The Juilliard School, and Stony Brook University.

Music

I am a classically trained pianist with a huge breadth of repertoire, from Renaissance to Contemporary. I am interested in demonstrating connections between styles and eras to show how composers draw on common threads.
