For devotees of the Western Classical Music tradition, Vienna is practically Mecca. It’s where Schubert was born. It’s where Beethoven is buried. It’s where Mozart struggled and thrived. And so when a group assumes a name like “The Vienna Piano Trio”, you know they mean business. And indeed, for over 30 years, The Vienna Piano Trio has been giving us the business, establishing themselves as one of the great piano trios in the world, and every bit deserving of the name of so great a capital of creation and culture. Well guess what - our terrific friends at the 92nd St. Y are bringing this internationally beloved ensemble through our capital of creation and culture and they want us to join for a Night Out!

We’ll gather in the 92nd St. Y’s beautiful concert hall, and hear this great group unleash some treasures of its origin city:

We start with Haydn’s Trio in E Minor, a jewel of the classical era.

Then it’s off to the height of the Romantic era with Brahms’ final piano trio, No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 101.

We final with L.V. Beethoven, with his absolutely legendary Archduke Piano Trio, often regarded as the greatest of all piano trios. It gracefully straddles the epochal divide between Haydn and Brahms, and so ends this incredible program with aesthetic reconciliation.

Tickets to the evening typically run more than $50, but we’ve got a great stack for $20! Supplies are limited, though so make your move!

And have a great Night Out!
