On full moon though it may be, this Halloween, most of us won't be handing candy to strangers, or dressing up as ghouls and ghosts. The Pandemic has sadly rendered this holiday a muted one. Which is part of the reason why Groupmuse is using the weekend to host a mini-festival -- to keep us connected, inspired, and delighted, regardless of what haunts our world.
And Halloween Night, we're thrilled to feature the ultimate Groupmuse veteran -- the most prolific groupmuser in history, having played more than 120 over the years -- cellist James Jaffe. He's joined by the brilliant violinist Mélanie Clapiès for a varies and poetic program. There will be works by Mélanie Clapiès herself, Astor Piazzolla, and Erwin Schulhoff, alongside the Maurice Ravel's staggering masterpiece, his Sonata for Violin and Cello.
The performance will be a Premiere, specially recorded for our community, and the artists will join for the before and after Zooms.
As is the case with all of our mini-festival events, all money raised will go to benefit the Groupmuse Foundation.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Thank you Peggy Gyulai and Jeremy Sutton for providing the beautiful sketches of James and Mélanie from a previous performance where there was live music AND live art!
