I will try to get you as excited about the revolutionary sound of the piano as perceived when it was knocking the socks and wigs off the likes of J.F. Haydn, before it became a piece of furniture, and long before his music was taught (and too often played) as if it belonged in the furniture category. The aim is to shock, to engage, to entertain, and perhaps to bring up a tear or two - nothing wrong with that....
What's the music?
All Haydn:
Sonatas and a Set of Variations
Works selected to make the black keys as startling as Haydn must have heard them on the newly invented piano.
