Host

Please join us for Covelo Piano Trio's Groupmuse debut! Violinist Cindy Lin, cellist Megan Koch, and pianist Nai-yu Chen will present a matinee of two piano trios by Shostakovich and Brahms.

The darkness of Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, op. 67, composed in 1944 in response to a tragic death, will be contrasted to the warmth of Johannes Brahms' Piano Trio No. 1 in B Major, op. 8, a work that's both young and old, first composed in 1852 when he was 19 and revised 30 years later at the mature stage of his career.

What's the music?

Shostakovich: Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op. 67
Brahms: Piano Trio No. 1 in B major, Op. 8
