Translations of vocal numbers:
MONTEVERDI "Orfeo"
PROLOGUE
Music:
"From my beloved Permessus I come to you,
Glorious Heroes, noble bloodline of Rulers,
Of whom Fame relates high praise
Without quite attaining the truth, as it is too high a mark.
I am Music, who in sweet accents,
Can make peaceful every troubled heart,
And so with noble anger, and so with love,
Can I inflame the coldest minds.
Singing with my golden Lyre, I like
To charm, now and then, mortal ears,
And in such a fashion that I make their souls aspire more
For the resounding harmony of the lyre of Heaven.
Hence desire spurs me to tell you of ORFEO:
Of ORFEO who tamed wild beasts with his song
And made Hades answer his prayers,
To the immortal glory of Pindus and Helicon.
While I vary my songs, now happy, now sad,
No small bird shall move among these bushes,
Nor on these banks a sounding wave be heard"

MERULA "Canzonetta spirituale sopra alla nanna"
Spiritual Lullaby.
Virgin Maria sings to her beloved son:
" Now that 's time to sleep, sleep my darling,  don't cry! because,  the time will come when you will need to cry..."

FRESCOBALDI "Così mi disprezzate"
So you despise me?
So you make fun of me?
Time will come, that Love
will do with your heart exactly
That, what do you do with mine,
No more words, goodbye!

VIVALDI "Sento in seno"
A Rain of Tears
I feel within me a rain of tears.
My deceived heart disperses
But, heart of mine, omit your tears;
because your crying doesn't decrease my pain.

M. F. GHERARDESCHI "The Lamentations of Jeremiah the Prophet"
This work consists of the 7 parts, which end with melodic variations on the first 5 letters of the Hebrew alphabet: ALEF, BETH, GIMEL, DAMEL, HE. The composer used this letters in exetly means, wich correspond with each parts of this cantata.
Each letter in the Hebrew alphabet has its own name and symbol and idea associated with it. therefore its intelligent energy is expressed in two ways: through the name, and through the form and the sound - that is, of the Vibrations of this form ... Also there is also the number. (with its thematic value)

1.We are beginning the lamentation of the Jeremiah the prophet.
"ALEF "

2.How deserted lies the city,
once so full of people!
How like a widow is she,
who once was great among the nations!
She who was queen among the provinces
has now become a slave.
"BETH"

3 Bitterly she weeps at night,
tears are on her cheeks.
Among all her lovers
there is no one to comfort her.
All her friends have betrayed her;
they have become her enemies.
"GIMEL"

4.After affliction and harsh labor,
Judah has gone into exile.
She dwells among the nations;
she finds no resting place.
All who pursue her have overtaken her
in the midst of her distress.
"DALETH"

5.The roads to Zion mourn,
for no one comes to her appointed festivals.
All her gateways are desolate,
her priests groan,
her young women grieve,
and she is in bitter anguish.
"HE"

6.Her foes have become her masters;
her enemies are at ease.
The Lord has brought her grief
because of her many sins.
Her children have gone into exile,
captive before the foe.

7.Jerusalem, convert, to your God!

BORTNIANSKY "Like an arrow flies from a bow,"
....
like a wave runs in a stream, time rushes relentlessly and cannot be stopped.

ARAJA "Vado a morir"

I'm going to die, but think - you're my parent!
That you gave me the heart, which cannot betray you..."

VOLKONSKAYA
The oak grove makes a noise, the clouds are gathering, bending down on the quicksand shore, sitting, in tears, grieving, the girl beautiful...
