Hosts
Karen and Robert started hosting live concerts in their home more than 30 years ago, and this love of intimate performances has grown into The Sound Room, a quiet and intimate venue that combines the house-concert-vibe with the aura of an old Oakland Jazz Club. We are across the street from the Sprouts on Broadway.
We even have a kitchen open now! Food and drinks are available for purchase. Seating is cafe-style, up close and personal to the musicians.
Arrive at 6 or 6:30 to get a good seat and order some food and drinks - the music will begin at or shortly after 7:00pm.
This program will feature a blend of styles, from classical favorites, to moody 1920s salon music, to wild klezmer dances! There will even be a world premiere included in there - a new piece by violinist and composer Roseminna Watson.

I invited two close friends to the concert, both of them were my piano teacher. We ordered lots of foods and drinks. The program was terrific. We all enjoyed it very much. As advised, I tipped three musicians with cash ($60 for each one of them). Ian was also a very effective and charming host. All in all, it was a wonderful evening.

The Venue was an intimate setting for this classical concert. The Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival performed a very interesting program from Mozart to Avant-Guard to Klezmer music. Their talent was superb and they were fun to watch. Thank you all for a wonderful, memorable evening.

This is the way to enjoy classical music , "Pops" style with tables, good food, but also a small relaxed environment. This was a delightful concert!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the first ever Groupmuse at the Sound Room! Usually I would leave a note right away, but Iβve been traveling since Sunday night and am currently in the midst of a residency in Massachusetts. Keep in touch and we will see you again!
