I'm thrilled to welcome Austrian pianist Benjamin Dioszegi for a program featuring the Kreisleriana, an eight movement masterpiece of Romanticism depicting both the "wild love" Schumann felt for his future wife, Clara Wieck, and the fantastical nature of its literary source.
Of it, Schumann wrote to Clara, "I want to dedicate it to you – yes, to you and nobody else – and then you will smile so sweetly when you discover yourself in it."
There will be a lovely small presentation from classical guitarist Andras Moldovan as well!
Doors at 7pm and music will start around 7:30pm.
What's the music?
Benjamin Dioszegi’s program:
W.A. Mozart: Sonata in D major KV 576
R. Schumann: Kreisleriana, Op. 16
Andras Moldovan’s program:
J. S. Bach - Organ Sonata Andante BWV 528
Prelude no 1 C major BWV 846
Prelude BWV 999 - Arr for guitar.
W. A. Mozart: Piano Sonata K 330 Andante Transcribed by F. Tárrega
Where does this music come from?
While creating my recital program for the 2026 season, I intended to commemorate the anniversaries of W.A. Mozart and R. Schumann. The choice of repertoire is designed in such a way that the works link together tonally and offer a rich display of character at the same time. Andras Moldovan is completing the program with guitar transcriptions of J.S. Bach's works. Bach’s music was a great source of inspiration for Mozart and for Schumann as well, as they deeply admired and studied his music carefully.
