Host

Hi there!
I'm excited to host my first house concert after recently moving to another neighborhood. This will be my 6th hosted concert in Santa Fe and 54th overall, and for this special occasion I'm thrilled to welcome back classical guitarist Craig Winston. Craig was the first musician I ever hosted in Santa Fe, and he was extremely well received. He'll be back with a new program of vibrant music from the Modern Americas along with Baroque and Classical selections. You can find out more about Craig at craigwinston.net. Come join us for a fun evening!

Doors open/guest arrival begins at 6:30pm with music to begin around 7pm. The event should conclude around 8:30pm. I'll provide light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks; feel free to BYOB. We'll take up a collection of at least $20 per person which I'll speak to at the event, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the musician. I hope to see you there!

Where does this music come from?

I'm excited to present my program of modern classical guitar music from the Americas set in conversation with selections by Bach. The composers featured in this concert were all active during the 20th and 21st centuries and practicing in the Americas or otherwise heavily influenced by the musical cultures of the Western Hemisphere.

From the tango sound of Warnecke's "Hommage a Piazzolla" to the modern indigenous-afro-latin rhythms and post tonal exploration of Leo Brouwer and Antonio Lauro, this music showcases the diverse culture guitar music and its unique character in classical music.

I've chosen to include works by the great German Maestro, J.S. Bach as his lute music is now some of the most widely performed music on the guitar. Though not originally written for the guitar, the lute suites were composed for its older ancestor; and, in arrangement, these pieces have become an essential part of modern classical guitar repertoire for their beauty and complexity.
