What's the music?

Mosa Tsay Cello
Guilherme Nardelli Monegatto Cello

Cello, there! We're two cello friends who will perform cello duos from the era before a cellist invented the endpin - when cellists held their instruments off the floor using just their knees. According to folklore, a cellist's protruding belly prevented him from holding the instrument properly, so he invented the endpin.

Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805)
....Sonata for Cello and Continuo in A Major, G. 4
I. Adagio
II. Allegro moderato

Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)
Sonata No. 6 in B flat for Cello and Continuo
I. Largo
II. Allegro
III. Largo
IV. Allegro

[Intermission]

Jean-Baptiste Barrière (1707-1747)
....Sonata No. 4 in B flat, Book 3
I. Andante
II. Allegro
III. Adagio
IV. Allegro

Jean-Baptiste Barrière (1707-1747)
....Sonata for Two Cellos No. 10 in G Major

Fun Fact: Mosa can trace her cello teacher family tree back to Boccherini!
