In the last month or so, we've had a couple really large scale Nights Out. A Beethoven Symphony followed by a 3-hour Handel Opera. We're grateful to have been able to share those epically-proportioned evenings with our people, but part of what we aspire to do with Nights Out is to explore the smaller, quirkier corners of the local classical music scene and Boston has oh so many quirky corners.

One of the great gems is WordSong - Boston's premier presenter of conversation-based concerts. You don't just listen - you think, you speak, you participate, you engage. If you're so inclined.

On Friday, May 19th, WordSong presents: No Texting Please - an evening of untexted music inspired by text.

"What do words in music sound like when there are no actual words? How can text inspire textless works? Come join WordSong and the Arneis Quartet as we explore the multiple connections between letters and notes. What do you think you'll hear? What did you hear? We'll ask you, and you can to tell us in your own words."

The evening will feature new works by Howie Frazin (who was actually an indispensable mentor to Groupmuse in our very earliest moments five years ago), Tom Schnauber, and Andy Vores and it'll also feature Leoš Janáček's absolutely monumental Kreutzer Sonata - among the very best string quartets ever written.

Tickets are typically $30, but we're getting them for $15 because we're Groupmuse! And we'll all be grabbing drinks at a local afterward, because we're Groupmuse!

Music. Conversation. Connection.

Hope to see you there!
