The Thalea String Quartet - a top string quartet from San Francisco - is performing Beethoven's Große Fuge in my living room. The Große Fuge is the first piece of classical music I ever became obsessed with. It led to me falling passionately mad for classical music. Which led to me starting Groupmuse. What's the music?
Howdy Folks! We are a string quartet from...wait for it.....SAN FRANCISCO, and we're in town this week playing hits from the 1780's all the way to 2015 for your musical enjoyment. Our 2nd set will be two movements from a late Beethoven quartet which...yep, you guessed it, includes his EPIC GROßE FUGE (Great Fugue), which is basically a 4-part FREE FOR ALL BATTLE TO THE DEATH...but not really.
