Bob Dylan wasn’t the first to use music to question how long the cannonballs must fly before they’re forever banned. All the way back in 1796, Joseph Haydn was crying for peace by the end of his Mass in the time of War. And in the history of classical music, there’s hardly been a more powerful and overwhelming call for peace than Ralph Vaughn Williams’ glorious cantata Dona Nobis Pacem (Give us peace) - written in England in 1936. We all know his call went unheeded and only a few years later human history was forever transfigured by unimaginable horror, violence, and bloodshed.

These days are not those days, but Vaughn Williams’ plea is tragically as relevant now as it ever was.

And so, it’s with great humility that we shared with you a Night Out featuring this great masterwork. Our beloved friends at the Orchestra of St. Luke’s are joining the The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys for a humbling and powerful evening of great music in the stunning and magnificent St. Thomas Cathedral, right on 5th avenue.

Tickets typically start at $40 and go up from there, but because Groupmuse makes with the goods, you can join for this overwhelming experience for only $20. But supplies are limited, so nab yours!
