Leonard Bernstein looms large over the story of classical music in 20th Century America. A prodigious composer, conductor, pianist, activist, educator, intellectual, and apostle for this great art form, Bernstein turned an entire generation on to classical music in his 72 years.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of his birth and around the country, arts organizations are celebrating the life and legacy of this generous giant and our friends at The Voices of Ascension Chorus and Orchestra are rising to the challenge and they want us to join!

On May 17th, they’ll be performing Bernstein’s magnificent Chichester Psalms, featuring renowned baritone Zachary Nelson.

It’ll be coupled with Ernest Bloch’s divine and humanist Sacred Service. Both works are choral settings of Hebrew texts and through the power of their underlying music, communicate an essence attainable by all.

It’s going down at the sublime Church of the Ascension in Greenwich Village and we’ve got a stack of $40 tickets for only $20 — half off! But are quantity is finite so if you want to join, please do!

And have a great Night Out!
