It’s official: The Arts Season is back into its fullest swing and for proof, you’ve to look no farther than our Nights Calendar, through which we’re thrilled to offer a second Night Out this month alone.

The Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra — a self-governed cooperative that challenges the standard hierarchal institutional model through the depth and dynamism of the music it makes — offered us a sold-out Night Out last May, and so, for their season opener, they want us back for a Groupmuse Night Out!

They’ve prepared a rich tapestry of music from throughout the ages — Prayer and Celebration by Augusta Read Thomas, a living composer who splits her time between Massachusetts and Chicago,
WA Mozart and his Sinfonia Concertante for 4 winds, K 297b*, Gabriel Fauré’s abundant late romantic Pelléas et Mélisande Suite, Op. 80 and Hector Berlioz, with his shattering La mort de Cléopâtre, featuring soprano Barbara Quintiliani.

Like last time, the concert is going down in the breathtaking First Baptist Church in Newton Center, 3 minutes from the Green Line stop, and while tickets are typically $45, we’ve got a limited stack for only $15 — some 70% off. But they sold out completely last time, so if you want to join, hop on it!

*There is some debate as to whether this piece is actually by Mozart because there are fragments missing. But this humble writer thinks that to listen to its sweet sadness is to be left with no doubt that this could be the work of nobody but Mozart. But we’ll probably never know for sure, so it’s ultimately up to you!
