Bah bah bah buuuuuuum, bah bah bah buuuuuuuum - with those eight nonsense syllables and nothing else, most of you probably already know what I'm talking about: It's the opening of Beethoven's epochal 5th Symphony and probably the most famous moment in the history of Western Music. But the thing is, it's loud and it's big and it just doesn't fit in a living room so for all of thousands of pieces of classical music that Groupmuse has shared with y'all, we've never once gotten the chance to share this raging War Horse of War Horses with our Boston crowd.

Well. Thanks to our wonderful friends at the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, we've gotten that chance with a big, fat Groupmuse Night Out at the GLORIOUS Sanders Theater, Harvard University. But the 5th is not the only course -- it's an all-Beethoven feast, starting with his shimmering and intrepid Coriolan Overture. It's followed by the impossibly grand and heroic Emperor Piano Concerto, his other "Fifth". On the keys will be the legendary giant of the Boston music scene, Robert Levin. The 5th Symphony will close out our night and send us into the world bigger, more illuminated. May we carry it with us.

Because it's the BPO, we'll be lead through the ins and outs of these massive masterworks by the one, the only, man, the myth, the Zander. If you've never seen one of Benjamin Zander's electrifying disquisitions, given before he leads the band, make some time for his treatment of Beethoven's 5th! And if you know Zander well, all the more reason: Make some time for Beethoven's 5th!

Tickets are typically $45, but we've got a Groupmuse-exclusive stack for only $20! But these things fly, so join us!
