For much of the history of classical music, percussion instruments have largely played a supportive roll* - coming in for moments of orchestral emphasis but staying in the background. But why? That’s a question that composers in recent decades have really started asking — and answering! With mind-blowing music written just for percussion!
And thanks to the electrifying, brilliant, Grammy-winning quartet Third Coast Percussion, some of that music is coming through the Bay, and so we’re off for a Night Out!
San Francisco Performances has invited us for another grand evening at Herbst Theater as we witness this expressive, virtuosic "eight-armed organism”** unleash the most dazzling torrent of sounds and spirit - and all by living composers too, including a Perpetulum by Philip Glass.
Tickets typically average $50, but we’re here with the goods: A stack for $20 — but supplies are limited, so make your move!
And have a Great Night Out!
