It’s really hard to make classical music economically viable. Years and years of lessons, music camps, conservatory. Easily hundreds of thousands of dollars on a beautiful instrument. And repeat that a hundred times if we’re talking an orchestra. That’s much of the reason why patronage has always been important to the life of this art form. Now I know what you’re thinking: Groupmuse is about to ask you for money. Well I’m so pleased and grateful to say: Nope! I’m just gearing up to tell you about an upcoming Night Out with the Aspect Foundation that celebrates the relationship between Beethoven and Archduke Rudolph - his most important patron!

Like all evenings with the Aspect Foundation, this’ll be more than a concert — it’ll be an exploration of the close and complicated relationship between Ludwig V. and Rudy, starting with an illustrated talk by Ignat Solzhenitsyn - an internationally beloved pianist/scholar who will also be performing. If you recognize the last name but not the first, it’s because he’s the son of the late Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - the world-famous Russian author and dissident.

On the program will be two masterworks Beethoven dedicated to the Archduke - his last Violin Sonata, no. 10, and his last Piano Trio, “The Archduke Trio”, often regarded as the most sublime piano trio ever written.

It’s all going down in the breathtaking Bohemian National Hall and what’s more, tickets come with free wine and snacks, so you really can’t go wrong!

Tickets typically run $45 for such an evening of sound and power, but we’ve got our sweetheart deal, so you can get your tickets for a mere $20 — more than 50% off! But supplies are limited so make your move!

And have a great Night Out!
