Founded in 1972, Massachusetts’ very own Aston Magna Music Festival is the longest running summer music festival that’s devoted primarily to historically informed early music. Last year they invited us to some of there performances, and the fit must have been true, because they’re inviting us back!

Bach’s the watchword for the evening on hand, as we dig deep with J.S.’s Brandenburg Concert no. 4. It’s coupled with a sublime cantata of his - “Non sa che sia dolore," BWV 209.

The evening finales with Villa Lobos and his Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, inspired by J.S. Bach, but with so very much of Villa Lobos’ Brazil in the mix.

Between the two, we’ll have Vivaldi and Pachelbel’s immortal Cannon.

There’s a pre-concert talk 45 minutes before the program if you wish to join for that, and while tickets are normally $40, you’ll get the evening for a mere $20 — fully half off! Supplies are limited though, so make your move!
