🎹 A Midsummer Night’s Dream or
A Hero’s Journey Through Music and Dream
As night falls, a young soul begins a journey - one that leads from the shimmering world of society into the depths of a dream. Through beauty, longing, storm and madness, he searches… and is transformed.
I. The Ball
F. Chopin – Two Waltzes, Op. 69
The evening begins in light. A ballroom glows with candlelight. Music flows, feet glide, and laughter dances in the air. But behind the graceful gestures lies a question: is there something more?
II. Reflection
F. Liszt – Consolation No. 3
He returns home. The silence of night wraps around him. The world fades. In this hush, the soul speaks softly - like a distant memory or a prayer.
III. Descent into the Dream
A. Scriabin – Sonata-Fantasy No. 2
He falls into a dream. At first, a moonlit sea surrounds him - luminous and vast. But the waves begin to stir… and then crash. A storm rises. The dream becomes overwhelming.
IV. The Struggle
N. Medtner – Sonata Tragica
Now in the depths of the dream, he faces something darker. A tragedy, a reckoning, a battle with fate. It is fierce, noble, and unrelenting.
V. Transformation
R. Wagner / F. Liszt – Isolde’s Liebestod
But through sorrow comes transfiguration. In love, even death becomes luminous. He lets go - and finds peace.
VI. The Fire Within
A. Scriabin – Sonata No. 5
Yet the dream is not done. One final vision seizes him - wild, ecstatic, and feverish. It is beauty on the edge of madness. Then suddenly… silence.
VII. Awakening
F. Liszt – Liebestraum No. 3
Morning. He awakens. Was it all just a dream? The sun is gentle, the room familiar. But he is changed. Love remains - tender and eternal.
