Historical context
I'll be performing music from a forthcoming album 'Guitar America 250' (Navona) being released in March that celebrates America at 250 through the music of the guitar. From Revolutionaries to Rock Starts, but could include abolitionists and suffragists.
The guitar’s tradition is typically more focused on music from Italy and Spain, with much of American history not a part of the tradition until the 1970’s. My arrangements of the patriotic songs looks to highlight what the guitar, inspire guitarists to learn more about the music of our history, and also gives a nod to Jimi Hendrix.
The 2nd half includes a New Lullaby inspired by riding the T by a local composer, a couple of my tunes that have reached over 7 million streams, and a nod to Boston’s history with a work inspired by Edgar Alan Poe.
