About

I love to play the classics, but for the last ten years or so, I've been composing more and more of the music I perform. My music isn't what most people think of when they think modern classical; it's more traditional in style, leaning heavily on Baroque styles especially, but rhythmically very different. The best music, for me, is easy to appreciate, but still well-worthy of hearing over and over, of digging into, of challenging us to think about what we really appreciate in music, and in life.

To that end, I think Groupmuse is a great idea, and it's another medium to think about what we value in the traditions of so-called classical music, and what we want to change.

In spreading the gospel of this tradition and the music I love, I always like to make my recitals more interactive than usual. This involves a fair amount of demonstrating, talking, and participation from my audiences.
