About

I am a pianist and composer with a special interest in music that speaks quietly, often bordering on the edge of a mystical silence. Although I graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1972 and further studied piano with Leon Fleisher and composition with Vincent Persichetti, as a youth I played mostly jazz and rock and roll, influences that permeate my compositions and repertoire choices. I like to perform mixed programs featuring my own compositions juxtaposed with standard repertoire such as Bach or Schubert, as well as including music of other contemporary composers such as Alan Hovhaness and Arvo Part.

Music

Bach, Partita in a minor, BWV 827
Mozart, Sonata in C Major, K. 545
Schubert, Sonata in A Major, D. 959
Alan Hovhaness, Hymn to Mt. Chocorua
Haskell Small, "A Journey in Silence"
