Dear Groupmusers, my name is Roi Karni is a clarinetist from Jerusalem. I recently graduated with my Master’s degree at the Juilliard School, studying with Prof. Charles Neidich. I play and perform on all the clarinet family, and I play in various ensembles and orchestras. As a curious musician, I collaborate with dancers, actors, and also composes my own music. I performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra member at Halls such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully hall (Lincoln center), Paul hall (Juilliard) and numerous others. Recently, I have been playing with Ohad Niceberg as a Duo (clarinet and guitar). I come from a back round of classical music, and Ohad from Jazz. We meet in between and play some pieces of Brazilian choro music, as well as some jazz songs, tango and originals. We are eager to share our collaboration with members of Groupmuse.

Music

I play repertoire from the late classical period, and romantic period (composers such as Schumann and Brahms), and 20th century pieces ranging from Debussy to contemporary compsers of today. I have a particular interest in frech repertoire, and I also arrange pieces by Bach for clarinet. Recently, I have been playing choro music, tango and jazz, and I have a duo with my friend Ohad who is a guitarist. We play some original music and music by Yamando Costa, and offer concerts with a fresh atmosphere.
