About

Los Angeles guitarist, composer, and educator Scotty Bramer brings a fresh and expressive voice to contemporary jazz. A graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music, Bramer has performed and toured with acclaimed artists including Sara Bareilles, Sam Barsh, Darek Oles, Bob Sheppard, and Louis Cole, while appearing at festivals such as the 123 Farm Jazz Festival and Love Long Beach Festival.

Scotty has held residencies at top jazz spots in LA including The Biltmore Hotel, The Culver Hotel, and Aum Beer House. He also curates mini-festivals and jam session events throughout Southern California.

Known for his melodic improvisation and soulful artistry, Bramer blends modern jazz, rich harmony, and adventurous exploration into a sound that is both sophisticated and deeply personal. He leads several original projects, including his psychedelic jazz ensemble Bodhisattva, whose latest album, Between Two Worlds, showcases his distinctive compositional voice.

Music

The music I play comes from a variety of genres and influences, but it is rooted in the improvisational tradition of jazz. Having studied with some of the top jazz artists in the world including Peter Bernstein, Joel Frahm, Darek Oles, and Bruce Forman, it is natural that my repertoire includes numerous jazz standards and classics from the 1930s to today. Composers include Jerome Kern, Rodgers/Hart, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and so many more. While jazz has been at the forefront of my musical craft, I also love the music and compositional elements of artists and composers of various genres, from Bach, to Jimi Hendrix, to Joni Mitchell, to Radiohead, to Bjork, and so many more.
