About

Theodore Chaffman is an American concert pianist and cultural-diplomacy practitioner whose work bridges music and international affairs, using performance and artistic programming as tools for international engagement and cooperation.

He has collaborated with global institutions including the U.S. Department of State, the United Nations, the World Bank, and Meridian International Center, and served as a cultural performer at the U.S. Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Chaffman trained at The Juilliard School and is the founder and director of Project BRIDGE, an initiative that connects music with diplomacy, global institutions, and cross-cultural exchange.

Music

I'm drawn to the lush world of late Romantic music—Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin, and the lesser-known corners of Liszt's catalogue. Russian repertoire, particularly Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, speaks to me deeply.

But my real passion is championing music that's been overlooked. I specialize in Spanish, British, Scandinavian, and Italian composers who deserve wider recognition, and I've also ventured into the rich traditions of Brazilian, Persian, and Japanese classical music. Every piece I perform is chosen because it deserves to be heard.
