As the nights get longer in autumn, let's transfigure the night into light with Moto Spirits. Put on your warm sweaters to keep the chill away, get a drink at this Brooklyn distillery, and enter the night with open ears.
On the menu: Johannes Brahms' Viola Quintet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 111, Carlos Simon’s An Elegy: A Cry from the Grave, and Arnold Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht ("Transfigured Night").
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area!
What's the music?
Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897) -- String Quintet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 111 (1890)
Carlos Simon (1986 - ) -- An Elegy: A Cry from the Grave (2015)
Arnold Schoenberg (1874 - 1951) -- Verklärte Nacht (1899)

Thanks for coming to join us yesterday! A huge thanks to Marie & Moto Spirits for hosting us! The music in the second half of the program left me rather speechless. If you felt a bit jolted at the end of the concert, that was on me. Sorry about that! Music overwhelms my capacity for words sometimes.
If you have space in your home (or know of a space) for 15+ vaccinated folks, you can host a concert too! You can apply to host (https://www.groupmuse.com/host) and request any of the incredible musicians from yesterday to perform at your first groupmuse. We're always encouraged to eat local, shop local...how about listening local? You probably have musicians living blocks away from you. That's what we do at Groupmuse -- connect you with hyper local musicians who are so ready to share their craft, after being in hibernation recently.
See you around, and stay tuned for more from these incredible musicians!

You're probably thinking: It's raining, it's chilly. Do I want to go tonight?
The answer is YES! I haven't been this excited about a concert in a while. These talented Juilliard musicians are STELLAR, and I'm so honored to be playing with them in the Verklärte Nacht.
Moto Spirits has big garage door-style windows, so the space will be well-ventilated and also shelter everyone from the rain. Drinks will be for sale. At the entrance, we'll ask for your name and proof of vaccination.
There will be bench seating and seats made out of Moto Spirits' barrels. However, you like sitting on the floor or want the option of lying down to enjoy the music, please bring a picnic blanket or cushions. Lawn chairs welcome too. See you tonight!
