Join us for a captivating afternoon of music performed on the sitar, tabla and tanpura by Will Marsh, William Rossel and Joyce West. This performance will feature the rich traditional rhythms and melodies from North India. It is a lively and unique art form with expansive improvisation and complex rhythms ranging from slow and meditative to fast and virtuosic. There will be an explanation/demonstration of how the melody and rhythm unfold in performance. Historically, Hindustani music was the chamber music of the royal courts of the Mogul Empire. Performances were often held in a small/intimate space much like this house concert. Whether you're a seasoned listener of this genre or a total newbie, this is a prime opportunity to behold these sounds live and in their element. Please join us for a unique and exciting evening! Tea will be served.
